Singers: In order to have a beautiful vibrato that properly resonates, the throat must be relaxed. Tensing the muscles of the throat will not only choke the sound, but can cause serious injury. Often times, a singer may not be able to produce vibrato at all due to vocal tension. Also, you must execute and maintain vocal control throughout the vibrato for a clear tone. Many times, the rate of speed is incorrect due to a lack of vocal control. In these cases, the singer will have a vibrato that is too fast (think of how a goat sounds), or too slow (think of an organ leslie). If you are struggling with this issue, please seek a good vocal coach in your area. If you live in the Nashville area, or would be interested in Skype lessons, please give our office a call.
